Kham Siri aims to meet the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual needs of people in downtown Chiang Mai.
Many of the poorer section of society in Thailand struggle to live on a day-to-day basis by working 12-14 hours per day. Typically this will be selling basic foodstuffs in a local market with very little time for home and family life.
Children may receive little emotional support and education in poor areas compared to the general population.

Many people in poor areas have not had a clear presentation of the gospel, but are however very open to the message. They are usually less attached to Buddhist ritual than wealthier families by nature of the fact they spend more time and energy on making a limited income.

More about the Kham Siri Project :

Stefan and Tina Mickel are the ministry leaders for Kham Siri. For the last couple of years they have been building relationships and reaching out to people on the fringe of society. This includes prostitutes, single mothers with babies, those who are affected and infected with the HIV virus, gays and homeless people. They have been actively partnering with different organizations, ministries, and individuals particularly focus on those areas.

As soon as the Kham Siri ministry was started in the previously location they started to train nationals to become leaders. The aim is to hand this whole ministry over to Thai nationals when appropriate leadership is discovered and trained. Currently there is one young Thai man that Stefan and Tina are training for leadership. His name is A* . He is 18 years old and came to know Jesus about 2 years ago. God already showed him in dreams that he will lead this church some time in the future. There are also others emerging with leadership potential.
